What went well during your online microteaching lesson
My lesson was well organized, with clear introduction to the topic of electric circuits. Learners were effectively engaged as I incorporated interactive tools such as Kahoot, elements of asking questions as well as problem solving activities. This not only kept students involved but also encouraged them to think critically about the concepts of being taught. With the use of real-world examples and analogies made the topic more relatable and understandable.
I successfully adapted the lesson to the online format by utilizing digital tools effectively for example I used screen sharing to show electric circuit components and encouraged students to participate through voice functions. This ensured that the online environment did not detract from the learning experience.
What challenges or obstacles did you encounter, and how did you address them?
Problem: It was challenging to cover all of the scheduled content in the time allocated, especially when it was necessary to answer specific queries and provide clarifications.
Solution: I listed the most important ideas first and scheduled time for questions at the conclusion of the class. I provided extra office hours to learners who needed more help with in-depth inquiries.
Did your lesson meet the learning objectives you set out to achieve?
Yes, the learning objectives were effectively achieved by the lesson. The basic components of an electric circuit, such as how fuses and motors work, were understood by the students. They correctly answered questions during the session and completed interactive quizzes to show that they understood the material. The majority of pupils were able to understand the main ideas as planned, even though some needed further assistance. The students were able to demonstrate comprehension through interactive activities and assessments. The use of real-life examples and practical applications helped solidify their understanding.
Did you choose appropriate ICT tools to teach your online lesson, explain why?
Yes, with the help of the interactive whiteboard, I was able to give pupils a more practical understanding of abstract concepts by using them to physically represent circuit diagrams. these resources were chosen because, for a subject like electric circuits, they efficiently promoted interactive and visual learning. Learners were able to practice designing circuits in a virtual setting using the simulations, and they could solve problems and get answers in real time using the online whiteboard. Platforms for quizzes assisted in providing prompt feedback and assessing the understanding of learners.
What did you learn from this experience that you can apply to the teaching of this lesson in the classroom?
I discovered how important interactive and visual aids are for improving students' comprehension, particularly when it comes to difficult subjects like electric circuits. In addition to the digital simulations used online, I may add more hands-on activities, like as creating basic circuits, in a physical classroom setting.
Additionally, I became aware of how important differentiated instruction is. Some students picked up the information quickly, while others need more assistance and time. I can better accommodate these differences in a classroom context by providing opportunities for peer cooperation and more individualized support.
How did you incorporate feedback from peers, mentors, or students into your lesson improvement process?
Peer feedback: I included live polls and real-time simulations into the class after receiving comments from others on how to make it more participatory and also my supervisor gave me hints on how to ask question when using PowerPoint Slides.
Student feedback: I want to include more hands-on activities in future lessons by giving learners access to basic circuit kits for use in the classroom. Students expressed a desire for more hands-on activities. I also got feedback that some concepts need more time, so I changed the lesson's pacing to help students understand.
You kept the lesson engaging, and your use of interactive tools was spot on. I really liked how you checked in with students throughout the session to keep them involved. ❤
Your ability to adapt the lesson to an online format using digital tools like screen sharing shows your resourcefulness. Engaging students through voice functions and interactive whiteboards helped maintain the effectiveness of the lesson, ensuring a dynamic learning environment. Well Done!!!
Great insights, your passion for teaching shines through. I love this post! You have inspired me to try something new.
Impressive lesson delivered, the teaching strategies used were good, and shows that you are ready for the field of work. Well done
Very interesting block. I am impressed on how you handled your challenges and came up with good strategies and overall how this situations makes you grow as a teacher.
